Guide to Animal Rights

Animals, being conscious and responsive, have some similarities with human beings. There are many pet owners in this world who would quickly tell you that animals are unique and they are precious in their own identity, and they should certainly be loved and nurtured. There are many people in this world who don’t really care what animals feel or be concerned that they are nourished and cherished because they are lower than human beings when it comes to intelligence.

There are many people who believe that animals have no basic right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. Another group would tell you that the feelings, and experiences of animals are much lower than a human being’s and thus should not be given the same status as a human has. These belief systems came from a wrong sense of righteousness and entitlement. That animals have rights will become significant if people will overcome their cognitive biases.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. We all know humans have this kind of behavior to destroy the natural world like what they do to lush rainforests which soon becomes flat lands and rich coral reefs are turned into ocean wastelands. If we destroy the environment for human gain, then we are also destroying the only places which animals can call home. That is why animal rights and the green movement are closely linked to each other.

There are animals or animal parts that are being used for products that is to be sold in the market and this is one display of human greed that is gaining popularity. When there is economic incentive, then mortality is disregarded altogether. Some examples of this are poachers, shark finners, and other people who view animals solely as commodities. They are disregarding the basic rights of animals to live in exchange for the dollar sign. Since animals have a right to live free of suffering at the hands of humans, it is important that we consider viable alternatives to animal products.

Animal rights activities have a strong sense of core beliefs guided by an unwavering morality. The primary things that animals rights advocates believe are given below.

Animals are neither machine nor objects but are conscious beings. There are also things that animals are interested in. Human beings should respect the interest of animals.
