How to Make Money at Home

How to Make Money at Home

Let’s get two critical points out of the way first. It is next to impossible to earn, even a penny, on most, if not all, work at home scams (the ones you get in your email) and it takes high energy to succeed in most business endeavors. This means if you are looking for an easy way to earn money you will not read about it here.

From a financial standpoint home and business type services are the best place to start looking when considering a home based business. This is because the service industry normally requires less investment and can often be managed by one individual. For example if you’re a trained accountant or a trained hair dresser it is relatively easy to work from home and/or your car; and cell phones are an ideal technology whereby you can be constantly connected.

If you are doubtful about the viability of home based services please think again. There are literally millions of skilled Americans earning a living from their homes. The key word here is “skilled.” Providing you are a professional in your type of services you may be surprised how easy it is to earn a good income.

Licensing

In most communities, home based business licensing is a simple process. I suggest you contact whoever is responsible for business licensing in your community and request an information packet, if they have one, or an explanation of what you must do to be properly licensed in your community. Please note business licensing is the first step for any new business and is usually mandatory by law.

Also be sure you have the proper professional licenses required for your field. For example, if you are offering home nursing care, it would be wise to have a certified nursing certificate or equivalent documents. Also note professional licenses are a testament to your ability and will help protect you from legal issues if they occur.

Insurance

Depending on your field of expertise good insurance may be required to protect yourself from accidents or any unforeseen costly situation. This is especially true if you hire employees and these employees enter or work on the outside of your customer’s home. Note also employees can be involved in automobile accidents which can become very expensive to resolve.

Also be aware, particularly if you offer contractor building services, your local business licensing agency may well require an insurance binder before approving you business license.

Pricing Your Services

There are no set rules for pricing your professional services. Some people will tell you to charge whatever your market will pay. Personally I believe common sense has to be applied here. If you gouge your customers they are not likely to return and they will most likely tell their neighbors not to use your services.

Motivation

Above I mentioned “high energy” was required to succeed in business and this is so true but there is another component to a successful life and that component is motivation. I could even say, with a degree of certainty, without motivation most people are doomed to mediocrity at best and a great deal more misery at worst.

Nobody can tell you justly how to think and thus acquire more motivation but I can offer you a quote from Jon Stewart which covers the subject very well.

Living in the limelight, the universal dream for those who wish to seem. Those who wish to be must put aside the alienation, get on with the fascination, the real relation, the underlying theme — RUSH, “Limelight; And now, here it is, your moment of Zen.

Conclusion

America, and the rest of the world for that matter, is changing rapidly and therefore, it seems, jobs and income are not what they once were. If you are running short on cash and need income you should consider the benefits of a home based business. Sure it will take some time to develop and nothing is cheap anymore but if you are skilled and industrious it will be hard not to succeed. Like I said millions of Americans already earn income operating home based businesses so why not you?

I wish you great luck in your business endeavors…
